Initializing a Permanent Card Using Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM)

This section describes how to request a permanent Crescendo smart card using Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM).

Follow these simple steps:

1. Log on to Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM) Management console.

2. Select Manage my info.

3. Under Common Tasks, select Request a permanent smart card.

   

4. Profile Selection : Permanent Smart Card page displays. Select a profile template using the drop-down menu.

   

5. Then click Next.

   Note: The certificates are generated and the card is initialized.

6. When prompted for PIN information, enter and confirm a PIN, and then click OK.

   Important:

   The PIN requirements are as follows:

   • PIN length is about 4 to 8 characters

     NOTE: Ignore the maximum PIN length value specified in the UI

   • It can be an alphanumeric PIN with at least one special character (e.g. !,@,#,$)

   • Weak PIN A PIN is considered weak if the difference between consecutive characters is fixed — for example 1234, ABCD, 86420, or acegik are considered weak PINs values are not allowed.

   

7. A Request Complete page opens, confirming that your card is now ready for use.
