Recommended Configuration

ActivID AAA Server and AAA Administration Console are installed on Microsoft® Windows® Server 2012 R2, 2016 or 2019 LTSB.

Supported Corporate Directories

You can configure the ActivID AAA Server to work with the following LDAP servers:

  • Microsoft Active Directory®
  • Microsoft Active Directory Server 2012 R2
  • Microsoft Active Directory Server 2016
  • Microsoft Active Directory Server 2019
  • Microsoft Active Directory 2022
    Note: For Microsoft Active Directory 2022 support, you must install Hot Fixes FIXS2312003 and FIXS2312004.

AAA Authentication Server

Minimum Hardware Requirements

  • 100 MB minimum available space (varies depending on system configuration)

Supported Operating Systems

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 (32 and 64-bit) (Standard and Enterprise editions)
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2016 (64-bit) (Standard and Enterprise editions)
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2019 LSTB (64-bit) (Standard and Enterprise editions)
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2022
    Note: For Microsoft Windows Server 2022 support, you must install Hot Fixes FIXS2312003 and FIXS2312004.

Supported Databases

Note: Microsoft SQL Server 2014 SP1 Express Edition is provided with the AAA Server distribution.
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2014 (32 and 64-bit)
  • Microsoft SQL Server Express 2014 SP1 (32 and 64-bit) (Default)
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2016 (32 and 64 bit)
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2019 (32 and 64-bit)

    Note: For Microsoft SQL Server 2022 support, you must install Hot Fixes FIXS2312003 and FIXS2312004.

None (uses built-in Tomcat server).

ActivID AAA Server Administration Console

The ActivID AAA Server Administration Console contains all the authentication credentials, and the AAA Server communicates with your LDAP server via queries. You can connect several AAA Server Administration Consoles to a central Administration database.

  • 100 MB available disk space (for the AAA Server Administration Console)

Supported Operating Systems

Same as the AAA Authentication Server plus:

  • Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Supported Databases

Same as the AAA Authentication Server.

The database space required depends on the number of devices you intend to host and the authentication and accounting log traffic you expect. The minimum requirement is 100 MB.
