About the ActivID SKI Connector Service API
The ActivID SKI Connector Service API enables developers to implement communications between the AAA Server for Remote Access and:
- Web Help Desk
- ActivID Credential Management System (CMS)
- Customer-specific provisioning/help desk services
It provides an open methodology for application-to-application communications(Web services) and works with a variety of existing Internet protocols and formats including HTTP, SMTP, and MIME.
The ActivID SKI Connector:
- Supports a wide range of applications
- Runs on the same machine as the AAA Server Administration Console (installed and configured on a Windows workstation)
- Issues and manages devices that enable cardholders to access resources protected by AAA Server (for example: workstations, applications, and secured networks)
The Web Help Desk and Self Help Desk require the ActivID SKI Connector to communicate with the AAA Server.
ActivID CMS Functions
The ActivID CMS functions that require the ActivID SKI Connector are:
- Add, update, view, and delete a connection to an ActivID AAA Administration Server.
- Check connectivity between ActivID CMS and AAA Administration Servers. This is an extension of the Check Connectivity feature that exists without the SKI Connector installation.
- Revoke, suspend, and resume an SKI credential. This is an extension of the revoke/suspend/ resume PKI credential.
- Fix login problem, SKI desynchronization issue.
Prerequisites
The ActivID SKI Connector Service API is published in the form of a Web Service Descriptor Language (WSDL).
It is the responsibility of the integrator to generate and test the client proxy classes from the published WSDL.
The ActivID SKI Connector has been tested with the Java AXIS 1.1 stub generation tool in Windows environment only. The API is compatible only with AAA Server for Remote Access 6.5 and later; it is not backward compatible with previous versions of the AAA Server (ActivPack).
Given the sensitive nature of the information passed to the SKI service, the SKI service should be configured with SSL server authentication. For higher security environments, the service can also be configured with client authentication. The integrator must configure the client SSL layer for the targeted environment.
