Smart Card Readers

The following tasks details the Smart Card Readers policy setting that allows you to customize ActivClient behavior regarding hardware devices.

Important:

Restart Workstation

For the Smart Card Readers policy changes to be applied, you must restart the workstation.

Enable the PIN Pad Readers Support

Description:

Defines if ActivClient uses the PIN Pad reader with secure PIN.

If this setting is not configured or disabled, then ActivClient uses the PIN Pad reader as a standard smart card reader.

Possible Values:

  • Not Configured

  • Enabled

  • Disabled

Smart Card Readers Black List

Description:

Defines the list of smart card readers not authorized for use with ActivClient.

If this setting is not configured or disabled, then ActivClient uses any connected smart card reader.

This list is populated with the full reader name or a substring starting with the prefix of the reader name.

Possible Values:

  • Not Configured

  • Enabled – enter the full reader name in the field to add it to the list

  • Disabled

Note:
  • ActivClient 6.x included a policy for smart card reader 'white list'. As the policy with ActivClient 7.x is a black list, the reader list needs to be adapted accordingly.

  • The reader name field is case sensitive. Use the reader name as reported in the Reader menu in the User Console.
