Updating ActivID AS Software
All the updates related to the ActivID AS system are provided by HID Global as signed and time-stamped RPM files.
The ActivID AS software updates utility is a script, <ACTIVID_HOME>/ActivID_AS/bin/updateSoftware.sh, allowing to:
-
Install a hot fix or a service pack.
-
Display information about the local ActivID AS installation.
-
Re-create ActivID AS WAR/EAR files based on files installed locally.
The hot fix update process consists of performing the following main steps on each ActivID AS node:
- Make sure the expected HID Global Signature Public Key and ActivID AS version is installed.
- Install the hot fix as described in the update release notes.
- Update your security domains with the latest dataset.
The service pack update process consists of performing the following main steps:
-
Stop all the ActivID AS applications on all ActivID AS server nodes.
- Apply the database schema changes on your database host.
Important: Only perform update the database schema if it is specified in the service pack release notes.
- Then, on each ActivID AS node:
- Make sure the expected HID Global Signature Public Key and ActivID AS version is installed.
- Install the service pack as described in the update release notes.
- Update your security domains with the latest dataset.
- A hot fix is cumulative in the sense that it includes all previously released patches since the last service pack release.
Generally, this implies that if you are updating ActivID AS, you first have to apply the latest service pack available, and then install the latest hot fix available.
- A service pack is non-cumulative in the sense that you have to install all the previously released service packs before installing it.
