About the Software Development Kit

The HID^® ActivID^® CMS Software Development Kit (SDK) makes it possible for a seamless integration between ActivID CMS and the various identity management and physical access control systems, which provide a complete enterprise provisioning and physical/logical access control solution. The result is a credential management solution that can grow with your enterprise architecture now and into the future.

The ActivID CMS SDK is a highly extensible card and credential management platform. ActivID CMS SDK provides tools, documentation, and APIs that allow system integrators and technology partners to:

• Extend ActivID CMS functionalities.

• Support additional Credential Providers such as PKI Certificate Authorities (CAs).

• Customize data handling for personalization/production of smart cards and USB security devices.

• Leverage ActivID CMS functionalities from external systems (such as Device and Credential Request Management, and Device Issuance).

Readers are assumed to have:

• Experience reading and writing Java code and/or C++ code and developing for a Windows-based environment.

• Experience using/understanding ActivID CMS workflows (for details, refer to About Device Lifecycle Management).

• A need to develop an application (or applications) using the ActivID CMS SDK.

• Knowledge of data and/or applications being integrated with the ActivID CMS SDK.
