About the Exchange Manager

The Exchange Manager component is an optional ActivID CMS utility that loads blank card stock data into ActivID CMS databases. When ActivID CMS has been configured with Auto Device Creation set to OFF, the system can issue only cards that have been imported through the Exchange Manager.

To be able to use the Exchange Manager, the card manufacturer must have provided an organization with a Batch Delivery Descriptor (BDD) XML file (BDD.xml). Use the Exchange Manager to import this file.

The Exchange Manager populates the card repository database with newly received card stock. The new card stock is specified in the BDD.xml file that the manufacturer ships along with the cards. The batch information contained in this BDD.xml file describes the card contents that are produced by the card manufacturer.
