Configuring the Generic Plugin

The Generic Plug-in mechanism operates on user enrollment attributes. Each plug-in takes a list of user attributes as input parameters and returns a list of user attributes.

The generic plug-ins are configured by the generic_plugin.properties file in your %PROGRAMDATA%\HID Global\Credential Management System\Shared Files\ directory.

As explained in About the Generic Plug-In SPI, generic plug-ins can be:

  • Server-side plug-ins , or

  • Client-side plug-ins

To deploy your own generic plug-ins , you can follow the configuration instructions described in:

By default, ActivID CMS provides two server-side generic plug-ins, used to manage PIV/PIV-I and CIV enrollment data.

The configuration of those plug-ins is described in Configuring the generic_plugin.properties Plug-In.

Note: If you have configured ActivID CMS to work with more than one type of directory, you may need to specify the directory type by adding a suffix with the directory short name to the .input and .output property keys (for example, <plugin name>.input.msft-ad). The table below provides the short name corresponding to each directory type currently supported by ActivID CMS as well as its entry UUID.
Directory Type Short Name
Microsoft Active Directory msft-ad
IBM Tivoli Directory Server / Novell eDirectory (UID) / Oracle Directory Server ibm
Critical Path / Siemens DirX dirx
Microsoft LDS msft-lds
Novell eDirectory (UniqueID) novell
