Validation Client Monitor Registry Settings

During operation of the Validation Client, if the Validation Client Monitor is routinely unable to contact the service, then configure the monitor registry settings to increase the amount of time that the monitor waits for a reply from the service or the number of attempts that it makes to contact the service before displaying the alert.

The parameters for registry settings are defined below:

  • PingFailureThreshold: This registry setting refers to a configuration option that sets the number of consecutive request failures allowed before considering the connection unreliable or not alive.

  • PingFrequency: This registry setting refers to a configuration option that determines how often the Validation Client Monitor sends requests to the Validation Client to keep the connection alive.

  • PingTimeout: This registry entry refers to a setting that specifies the timeout duration for request/response between the Validation Client Monitor and Validation Client application.

  • ServiceTimeout: This registry entry refers to a setting that determines the maximum amount of time the Service Control Manager (SCM) will wait for a Validation Client Monitor service to start or stop before considering the operation to have timed out.
