Specify Log Directory and Size

By default, the Validation Client creates a log for each user who uses the Validation Client.

The log is created in the user’s Local Application Data directory,

for example, C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\HID Global\Validation Client\Logs on Windows and Windows Server.

In addition, a log of system activity (that is, activity that is not specific to a single user) is stored in the computer's Common Application Data directory,

for example, C:\ProgramData\HID Global\Validation Client\Logs on Windows and Windows Server.

You may wish to store the log file in a different location. To make this change:

  1. Select Custom Location to enable the Browse button.

  2. Click Browse to select a new destination directory.

If the Validation Client cannot create a log file in the destination directory, it will attempt to create it at the location specified above. You should take care to specify a directory for which the user has write permissions. The Validation Client cannot create a log file if the user does not have write permissions for the desired directory.

The default log file size is 500 KB; you can adjust it here as necessary. The Validation Client automatically removes older data whenever the log file contents reach the maximum file size.
