Update / Create Server Certificate (Generate Request)
By default, the Validation Responder Appliance Management Console identifies itself using a self-signed certificate when authenticating SSL connections. You can change the SSL server certificate in one of two ways:
-
Obtaining a certificate from a certificate issuer, or
-
Regenerating the self-signed certificate.
To replace the self-signed SSL server certificate with one issued by a certificate authority, you must create a certificate request. The certificate request contains the Validation Responder Appliance’s public SSL key and a distinguished name that identifies your organization.
-
In the Administration section of the navigation bar, click Update Server Certificate as previously illustrated.
-
In the Create Certificate Request section of the Update Server Certificate page, enter an X.500 Distinguished Name that identifies your organization and the Validation Responder Appliance (for example, CN=appliance.yourcompany.com, O=YourCompanyName).
-
Click Create Certificate Request. This will load a page with a certificate request that looks something like this:
-
Copy this entire text (including the “BEGIN” and “END” lines) for submission to a Certificate Authority.
-
After the certificate issuer provides the certificate, save the certificate to disk.
-
Return to the Update Server Certificate page.
-
In the Upload Certificate section click browse to locate the new file and then click Upload Certificate.
