View System Log Files (View Responder Logs)

The Validation Responder Appliance records messages about system events to log files and via email.

  1. In the Responder Software section of the navigation bar, click View Responder Logs.

The following list summarizes the possible contents of the log files.

  • catalina.out—This log records web server startup and shutdown activity.

  • vr.log—The main responder log files. This log is managed using the Logging page of the Validation Responder Appliance Management Console as described below.

  • rtc_ocsp_log.yyyy-mm-dd.log—These files contain the latest OCSP request logs.

Each log message that is generated is recorded in the responder log file (rtc_java-number.log) and has an associated level that specifies how important the message is. Valid levels are: Severe, Warning, Info, Config, Fine, Finer, and Finest.

  1. Click the name of the log that you want to view or save. The web browser will open a new page displaying the log.

  2. To save the log, select your browser's File menu and save as a TXT file.
