System Requirements

This section describes the minimum hardware and software requirements for the Validation Responder.

Operating System and Hardware Requirements

The Validation Responder is available in three configurations:

  • As software, supported on the following platforms:

    • Microsoft® Windows® Server 2012, 2012 R2, 2016, and 2019 (64-bit)

    • Red Hat® Enterprise Linux® versions 7 and 8

  • As a hardware appliance:

    • Dell PowerEdge R240 rackmount server, with Debian® Linux 11.0 x64 operating system

  • As a virtual appliance:

    • Image compatible with VMware®, based on Debian® Linux 11.0 x64 operating system

To access the Validation Responder management interface, the following clients are supported in addition to the server themselves:

  • Windows 11 (only x64) and Windows 10 (x86 or x64)

    Via the following browsers:

    • Google® Chrome

    • Firefox®

    • Microsoft Edge®

Interoperability with Other Components of the ActivID Validation Suite

ActivID Validation Responder 7.3 is compatible with:

  • ActivID Validation Authority 7.3/7.2

  • Desktop Validation Client 7.3/3.1.x, SerVE for Microsoft Domain Controller 7.3/3.1.x, SerVE for Microsoft IIS 7.3/3.1.x, SerVE for Exchange 7.3/3.1.x, Path Builder SerVE 7.3/3.1.x

Validation Responder is also compatible with the following OCSP clients. Any client that supports the OCSP standard should work with Validation Authority.

  • Adobe® Acrobat Professional

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader

  • OpenSSL OCSP toolkit (open source)
