System Requirements

This section describes the minimum hardware and software requirements for the Validation Responder.

Operating System and Hardware Requirements

The Validation Responder is available in three configurations:

  • As software, supported on the following platforms:

    • Microsoft® Windows® Server 2016, 2019, and 2022 (64-bit)

    • Red Hat® Enterprise Linux® versions 7 and 8

  • As a hardware appliance:

    • Dell PowerEdge R240 rackmount server, with Debian® Linux 11.0 x64 operating system

  • As a virtual appliance:

    • Image compatible with VMware®, based on Debian® Linux 11.0 x64 operating system

To access the Validation Responder management interface, the following clients are supported in addition to the server themselves:

  • Windows 10 (x64) via the following browsers:

    • Google® Chrome

    • Firefox®

    • Microsoft Edge®

Interoperability with Other Components of the ActivID Validation Suite

ActivID Validation Responder 7.4 is compatible with:

  • ActivID Validation Authority 7.4/7.3/7.2

  • Desktop Validation Client 7.3, SerVE for Microsoft Domain Controller 7.3, SerVE for Microsoft IIS 7.3, and SerVE for Exchange 7.3

Validation Responder is also compatible with the following OCSP clients. Any client that supports the OCSP standard should work with Validation Authority.

  • Adobe® Acrobat Professional

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader

  • OpenSSL OCSP toolkit (open source)
