Encrypting and Decrypting Files
This section explains how to encrypt and decrypt files using a digital certificate stored on your HID Crescendo device. Adding your digital signature to a document protects the content and authenticates you as the owner. Depending on your smart card content and your platform configuration, you can seamlessly encrypt and decrypt files.
Encrypt a File
- Insert your HID Crescendo contact card (chip-side up and chip first) into the smart card reader, or place your HID Crescendo contactless card on a contactless smart card reader, or plug the HID Crescendo Key into a USB port and wait for a steady or flashing Green light.
- Create your document.
- In the protection options of your document editor, select to either add your digital signature
or encrypt
the document.
- When prompted, enter the PIN protecting the certificate.
