Logging On to Microsoft Windows

If your Microsoft Windows computer is joined to a domain and your HID Crescendo device contains a certificate for Windows authentication issued by a Certificate Authority trusted by that domain, you can use the device to log on.

To authenticate:

  1. Start your workstation.
  2. Insert your HID Crescendo device.

  3. If multiple smart card certificates compatible with Microsoft Windows logon are displayed, select the one you want to use.

  4. Enter your PIN and click OK, or, if you're using a Crescendo Key with a button, wait for the light to flash and press the button once.
    After a few moments, you will be logged on and your desktop will appear.
Note: You or your organization can configure the system to automatically log you off when you remove your smart card or security key. For details, refer to the relevant Microsoft documentation.
