Changing your Management Key

Note: The Management Key is pre-configured with either a default value of 48 zeros (000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000) for 3DES keys or a default value of 32 zeros (00000000000000000000000000000000) for AES 128-bit keys. This section (below) explains how to change your Management Key if desired.

To change the Management Key value for your Crescendo device, perform the following steps:

  1. From the Crescendo Management Tool Home screen, locate and click on your inserted Crescendo device and click the Continue button:

  1. In the Applications screen, locate the Security section and click the Change Management Key link:

  1. On the Change Management Key screen, enter the current Management Key and the desired new Management Key. For ease and security, you can generate a new, valid Management Key by clicking the Generate button. Once both values are entered correctly, click the Submit button:
    Note: The management keys supported are:

    • 3DES (192 bits) – key length equals 48-character hexadecimal value

    • AES 128 bits – key length equals 32-character hexadecimal value

  1. If the current Management Key was entered correctly, and the new Management Key is valid, a success message appears in the upper-right corner of the Crescendo Management Tool window. Your new Management Key will be in effect:
