User Console

This section provides an overview of the ActivClient Console policy settings available if the ActivClient Console is installed.

Some policies are only available if the associated ActivClient components are installed.

Important: Restart ActivClient Console

For the ActivClient Console policy changes to be applied, you must restart the ActivClient Console.

Disable Deletion of User Certificates

Description

Specifies whether users can delete certificates from their smart card.

Note: This policy is not applicable if the smart card is issued by a card or credential management system (e.g., HID CMS) that prevents users from modifying card contents.
Note: ActivClient does not allow updating a card if restrictions are enforced at the card or applet level. For example, CAC and PIV cards are typically read-only at the workstation level, meaning users cannot delete existing certificates or import new ones. In such cases, certificate management is controlled by the system used to issue the cards, such as HID CMS.

Behavior

  • Disabled or Not Configured: Users can delete certificates from their smart card.

  • Enabled: The certificate deletion option is not available to users.

Hide Import Certificate Menu

Description

Specifies whether the Import Certificate menu is displayed in the ActivClient Console, allowing users to import a certificate onto their smart card.

Behavior

  • Disabled or Not Configured: The Import Certificate option is displayed in the ActivClient Console.

  • Enabled: The Import Certificate option is not displayed in the ActivClient Console.

Hide Publish to GAL Menu

Description

Specifies whether the Publish to GAL option is displayed in the ActivClient Agent, allowing users to set up email certificates in Microsoft Outlook and publish certificates to the Global Address List.

Note: This option is not displayed if the Microsoft Outlook Usability Enhancements feature is not installed.

Behavior

  • Disabled or Not Configured: The Publish to GAL option is displayed in the ActivClient Agent.

  • Enabled: The Publish to GAL option is not displayed in the ActivClient Agent.

Hide Recycle Device Menu Item

Description

Specifies whether the Recycle Device menu item is displayed in the ActivClient Console, allowing users to recycle their tokens. The Recycle Device menu item is only applicable to standalone smart cards.

Behavior

  • Enabled: The Recycle Device menu item is not displayed in ActivClient Console.
