Upgrade from AAA Server 6.8 (SQL Server) - Pool of Servers
This section lists the steps to upgrade from AAA Server 6.8 (SQL Server) with pool servers and database replication using the SQL Server Enterprise Manager.
As you do not have to stop SQL Server replication, there is no interruption of services. Users can continue to authenticate using the secondary (or slave) AAA Server(s) in the pool.
If your AAA Server uses SQL Server but not with pool servers or replication, see Upgrade from Version 6.8 and Later.
- You must back up your existing AAA Administration and Server databases before starting the upgrade.
-
Stop all AAA Server components running on the primary AAA Server.
Do NOT remove SQL Server replication!
- Verify that users can authenticate using the AAA Server(s) in the pool that are still active.
- Upgrade the primary AAA Server as described in Upgrade from Version 6.8 and Later.
- Restart the AAA Server services on the primary AAA Server.
- Verify that users can authenticate to both the primary AAA Server running version 6.8, and the remaining server(s) in the pool running version 6.6.
- Stop all AAA Server components running on the secondary AAA Server.
- Verify that users can authenticate using the AAA Server(s) in the pool that are still active.
- Upgrade the secondary AAA Server as described in Upgrade from Version 6.8 and Later, and then restart the AAA Server service(s).
- Upgrade all the other AAA Servers in the pool to version 6.8.
- Proceed to Use the RADIUS Ping Tool.
