Upgrading ActivID ActivClient

Supported ActivClient Upgrades

This release of ActivClient allows you to upgrade automatically from previous version:

  • ActivClient 7.1 or later (64-bit edition)

Note:

If upgrading from 7.1 or 7.2 or 7.2.1 or 7.2.2 to 7.4.1 using msi with US Department of Defense configuration feature enabled in the previous version and to install the next generation Credential PIN Reset web application, either of the following workarounds are recommended:

  • modify the installed features after upgrade using the Add or Remove Programs function in the Windows Control Panel by first deselecting and then selecting US Department of Defense configuration; or

  • uninstall the existing version of ActivClient then install ActivClient 7.4.1.

Note:

If upgrading from 7.1 or 7.2 or 7.2.1 or 7.2.2 to 7.4.1 using Active Directory Push with US Department of Defense configuration feature enabled in the previous version and to install the next generation Credential PIN Reset web application, either of the following workarounds are recommended:

  • in every system, modify the upgraded ActivClient using the Add or Remove Programs function in the Windows Control Panel, and click Next on the InstallShield wizard and allow the wizard to complete; or

  • uninstall the existing version of ActivClient then install ActivClient 7.4.1.

ActivClient setup automatically detects the previous versions 7.1 or later (64-bit edition) and upgrades it during installation. You do not have to uninstall the previous version.

Important:

Due to the deprecation of Visual Basic Script (VBScript) starting with Windows 11, version 24H2, upgrading ActivID ActivClient 7.4.1 itself to a higher version on this and later Windows versions may encounter issues. To avoid problems with upgrading ActivClient caused by the VBScript deprecation, we recommend to uninstall your current version before upgrading. For more details, refer to Troubleshooting Uninstallation of ActivClient After Deprecation of Visual Basic Script.
