Apply a Service Pack Update in Dual Mode

This section explains how to apply a service pack update in a dual mode deployment.

Important: In this workflow, services are interrupted during the update process so you need to schedule the update to minimize the interruption.

  1. Remove the redirection of all requests to both node 1 and node 2 (full service interruption).

  2. Switch both nodes to single mode.

  3. Apply the service pack update on node 2 and reboot the appliance node.

  4. Redirect all requests to node 2 (end of the service interruption).

  5. Apply the service pack update on node 1 and reboot the appliance node.

  6. Set the nodes to dual mode again (where node 2 is the Source Node so that no data will be lost).

  7. Redirect all requests to both nodes.

Apply a Hot Fix Update in Dual Mode

This section explains how to apply a hot fix update in a dual mode deployment.

In this workflow, services are not interrupted as there is always a node (node 1 or node 2) available to process requests.

  1. Redirect all requests to node 1.

  2. Apply the hot fix update on node 2.

  3. Redirect all requests to node 2.

  4. Apply the hot fix update on node 1.

  5. Redirect all requests to both nodes.
