Importing Devices
You can import many types of devices into ActivID AS which you can then assign to your users.
Devices are imported by uploading a file containing the required information about the device(s).
The following types of files can be imported:
-
An SDB (single device) file - the standard format used by ActivID AS
-
An SDS (multiple device) file - the standard format used by ActivID AS
If the file is very large, then the import will run as a background task.
-
An OATH PSKC device file
-
An OATH PSKC card file - the open standard format for OATH credentials (in the format version 1.1)
-
A PKI certificate (.cer) file
ActivID AS treats each of these file formats slightly different. The file type is determined based on the file suffix. Therefore, it might be necessary to rename files to have the correct suffix.
It is also possible to configure ActivID AS to associate formats with an alternate suffix (for example, to associate an .xml suffix with the PSKC file format).
These types of files share these same fields:
-
Import adapter
-
Device type
-
Issue number
-
Valid From/To (except for PKI, as this information is contained in the certificate itself)
-
Status
Each type of file is managed by a dedicated Device Import Adapter, which is automatically selected depending on the extension of the selected file.
