ActivID CMS Components

The ActivID CMS Setup program installs the following CMS components:

Important: These components are installed on the same system and cannot be separated.
  • Operator Portal: the web interface accessed by CMS operators to administrate the CMS configuration and perform Credential Management activities.

  • User Portal: formerly known as MDIDC (My Digital ID Card), the web interface accessed by users to perform Credential Management activities (limited to their own devices), which can be adapted to the customer branding.

  • CCM API: the SOAP Simple Object Access Protocol and REST Representational State Transfer interface accessible via programs, used by ActivID CMS itself to drive device operations, and available for specific programmable needs.

  • Core and Content Servers: manage the Credential flows between ActivID CMS, third-party Credential Authorities, and user devices (Smart Cards, Keys, etc.). The Core server can be enhanced with plugins (Credential Providers, Generic Plugins, etc.)

  • Audit Server: manages the CMS operational records.

  • Exchange Manager: a separate utility used to load blank card stock data into the database. When ActivID CMS is configured with the Enable Automatic Import of Unknown Devices option set to No, ActivID CMS can only issue cards that have been imported through the Exchange Manager or ActivID Batch Management System (the latter, ActivID BMS, is available separately).

Note: The Enable Automatic Import of Unknown Devices option is found in the Miscellaneous settings described in Setting Miscellaneous Parameters.
