This section provides the latest information about HID® Credential Management System (CMS) 6.5. It also includes information about the compatibility between CMS Server and CMS Client versions, as well as specific CMS Client versions needed to support different features (see CMS Server-Client Compatibility).

Installation and Upgrade
HID CMS 6.5 can work with ActivID CMS Client 6.0 or higher; however, for some features, a specific CMS Client version is required: for details, see CMS Server-Client Compatibility.

upgrading from ActivID CMS 5.13 and above.
HID CMS 6.5 supports upgrades from ActivID CMS 5.13 and above. If you intend to upgrade from an earlier version, you will need to upgrade to ActivID CMS 5.13 or higher first. For details, refer to Installing ActivID CMS.
Starting with ActivID CMS 5.1, the backup mechanism has been modified in order to preserve customer settings as much as possible. You are advised to refer to Installing ActivID CMS for details.
