Upgrading from Previous Versions

If you are running Version 7.3 of the Validation Extension, you can upgrade to ActivID Validation Extension Version 7.4 by running the installer.

Important: If you are running an earlier version of the Validation Extension than Version 7.3, you must first uninstall the Validation Extension as described in section Uninstalling before you upgrade to ActivID Validation Extension Version 7.4.

Configuration Settings

While upgrading from version 7.3 to 7.4, configuration settings will not be retained.

To migrate configuration from version 7.3 to 7.4, follow the below steps:

  1. Save the configuration settings of the previous version (7.3). Refer to Save the Configuration to a File.

  2. Upgrade to version 7.4.

  3. Import the saved settings to the newly upgraded version 7.4. Refer to Import a Saved Configuration.

  4. Uninstall the previous version (7.3 or lower). Refer to Uninstalling.

    Note: After uninstalling, previous version shortcut icon will be present in the Start menu. Click on the previous version shortcut icon and then a popup appears, click Yes to delete.

Export Configuration settings using Settings Installer

While upgrading from version 7.3 to 7.4 using Windows GPO, configuration settings are not applied on 7.4 application.

To apply configuration settings from version 7.3 to 7.4 using Windows GPO, follow the below steps:

  1. Install version 7.4 and export the configuration settings by creating the settings installer. Refer to Export the Configuration.

  2. Uninstall the previous settings installer (7.3) as follows:

    1. Open Microsoft Management Console with the Group Policy snap-in. Select Default Domain Policy.

    2. Expand Computer Configuration and Software Settings, select Software Installation.

    3. Right click Settings Installer, then select All Tasks and Remove.

  3. Upgrade to version 7.4.

  4. Update the initial settings using the settings installer created in step 1. Refer to Initial Settings Update.
