Smart Card Auto-Update
ActivClient provides an automatic content update feature that automates the update of smart card or key content for security devices managed by HID Credential Management System (CMS).
This section describes the ActivClient auto-update policy settings that you can configure. The default values apply to most configurations. For further information, see the HID CMS technical documentation.

The CMS server URL must be specified in the CMS Server URL policy setting.
CMS Server URL
Description
Specifies the connection URL for the HID CMS server (see the HID CMS documentation). The port number must be included in the URL.
Example: http://cms.mycompany.com:89898
Behavior

Disabled or Not Configured: No automatic update check is performed when a smart card is inserted.

Enabled: An automatic update check is performed at the connection URL specified in the Options field.
Enable Card Auto-Update
Description
Specifies whether ActivClient checks if connected devices can be updated with content updates available in the HID CMS. If updates are available, the update process is automatically initiated.

If this setting is enabled, the CMS Server URL policy must also be enabled, and a valid URL must be specified for ActivClient to perform the token auto-update check.
Behavior

Disabled or Not Configured: ActivClient does not perform an automatic check for card content updates.

Enabled: ActivClient checks for card content updates and notifies the user to initiate the update process if updates are available.
