Installing the Validation Responder
Upgrade Notes
There are two steps to upgrade from Validation Responder 7.2 to Validation Responder 7.3. The first step is to install the Validation Responder 7.3 afresh in a different location from where the previous version of the product was installed. Make sure that the required version of Java is installed and that the Validation Responder service has been disabled beforehand.
The second step is to configure the newly installed version 7.3 to the same configuration settings as the previous version. For details, refer to the Validation Responder Configuration.
Prerequisites

You must have installed the operating system on the server that will host the Validation Responder software.

The Validation Responder installer requires Java to be set in the execution PATH. This is required only to run the installer. After the Validation Responder installation has been completed, Validation Responder will work fine, even if the Java executable is not set in the system's execution PATH.

If installing Validation Responder on Windows, Java Development Kit (JDK) v8 is required.

If installing Validation Responder on Linux, Java Runtime Environment (JRE) or Java Development Kit (JDK) v8 is required.
Note: JAVA_HOME & PATH variables are to be set in system environment variables for the installer to work.Note: You can use either the 32-bit or 64-bit version of JRE or JDK.Important:Note the following for Windows Server
For Java Development Kit (JDK) version 8.261 make sure all the supported operating systems are updated.
In Windows, to avoid the below error while starting the services, install the Visual Studio (VC_redi_x64 bit package)
java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_261\jre\bin\awt.dll: Can't find dependent libraries at java.lang.ClassLoader$NativeLibrary.load(Native Method) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadLibrary0(ClassLoader.java:1934)
Install Validation Responder with OpenJDK
Validation Responder supports the OpenJDK, it is recommended to download and install the latest OpenJDK 8 from OpenJDK.org.
