Generate an OTP

You can use this to generate an OTP which can be copied into your system's clipboard.

Generating an OTP (HOTP/TOTP)

1. Launch the HID Crescendo Authenticator Tool:

   

2. Plug the HID Crescendo Key into a USB port and wait for a steady or flashing Green light or insert an HID Crescendo 2300 Smart Card in a Smart Card reader.
3. Click the Slot button corresponding to the credential for which you want to generate an OTP:

   

4. Enter the PIN if requested.



5. Press the HID Crescendo Key series button (if applicable).

   

Note:  You must press the button while the light is flashing red. Restart the OTP generation process if the timeout is reached.

The tool generates the OTP and copies it to your system's clipboard:

6. Enter or paste the OTP into the logon/validation form of the service to which you want to authenticate.

Generating an OTP (OCRA Challenge/Response Credential)

1. Launch the HID Crescendo Authenticator Tool:

   

2. Plug the HID Crescendo Key into a USB port and wait for a steady or flashing Green light or insert an HID Crescendo 2300 Smart Card in a Smart Card reader.
3. Click the Slot button corresponding to the OCRA credential (in the example below, the slot named OATH_OCRA):

   

4. Enter the device PIN:

   

5. Enter the Challenge value:

   

6. Press the HID Crescendo Key series button (if applicable):

   

   The tool generates the OTP and copies it to your system's clipboard:

   

7. Enter or paste the OTP into the logon/validation form of the service to which you want to authenticate.
