Installation, Setup Customization, and Product Deployment
ActivClient can be installed locally on individual machines or deployed remotely across multiple users or computers, streamlining the process and helping reduce the total cost of ownership.
In addition, the ActivClient setup can be extensively customized to meet your organization's specific requirements.

Installation Methods
You can install ActivClient using one of the following methods:
-
Interactive installation through a graphical user interface that guides you through the process.
-
A command-line installation method suitable for automation and advanced customization scenarios.

Setup Customization
HID Global uses industry standards whenever possible so that you can use off-the-shelf products.
However, the ActivClient setup can be extensively customized to include only the components required for your environment.
You can customize the installation at different stages:

Customizing the MSI File Before Installation
You can remove or pre-select features by modifying the MSI installer directly using Orca. However, this method is not recommended, as it invalidates the MSI file's digital signature.

Customizing the Setup During Installation
-
Select or deselect features interactively using the Custom installation option.
-
Use ADDLOCAL, REMOVE, and other parameters to control the ActivClient setup.

Customizing the Setup After installation
-
Add or remove features in the graphical user interface using the Modify option.
-
Use ADDLOCAL, REMOVE, and other parameters to modify an existing ActivClient installation.

Deployment Methods
ActivClient can be deployed remotely across your organization using standard enterprise tools and distribution channels such as:
-
Active Directory Group Policy Objects (GPOs)
-
Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
-
Other enterprise software distribution tools
