Authenticating with an OTP

This section explains how to generate an OTP using the HID Crescendo Key Series to authenticate to web-based and VPN applications.

Note: It is recommended that you plug the HID Crescendo Key Series into a USB port and wait for the ready (steady Green light) or idle (flashing Green light) mode before registration/authentication.

Start the Logon Process

  1. Plug the HID Crescendo Key Series into USB port and wait for a steady or flashing Green light.
  2. Enter your username and place the cursor in the password field.

Authenticate with an OTP

  1. Press the HID Crescendo Key Series button once.

    The HID Crescendo light turns Red for 1-2 seconds and adds the OTP to the password field.

  2. In the logon page, click OK (or the equivalent validation button) to complete the logon process.
Note: You can also generate an OTP using the HID Crescendo Authenticator Tool.
